Additional State Pension Valuation in Divorce

On the 6th April 2016 a new state pension scheme is being introduced and legislation relating to sharable state pension rights is changing. In order to avoid disruption to divorce proceedings or dissolution of civil partnership, we understand that the Pension Service/Department of Work & Pensions will assume that the old rules will apply to divorce or civil partnership dissolution which commenced before the 6th April 2016 and that the new rules will apply for divorces which commenced on or after the 6th April 2016 which means the additional state pension would have been available to the Courts for sharing.

This is an area which can be complex and if you need more help or advice about the additional state pension you can contact the Newcastle Pension Centre Futures Group at the Pension Service 9, Mail Handling Site A, Wolverhampton, Great Britain, WV98 1LU.
