Farewell Family Legal Aid - Hello Fixed Fees

If you are not already aware government reform will come into effect in the 1st of April meaning that many types of family work are no longer able to be paid for with legal aid.

What is no longer available?

Divorce, private law children (contact disputes between private individuals), residence applications, specific issue applications, parental responsibility applications and all financial matters arising from divorce or separation.

What is available?

Legal aid available from solicitors in family work after the 1st of April 2013 will be limited to children cases involving Social Services and any work where you are the victim of domestic violence.

If your case does not fall into these areas you will have to pay privately for help from a solicitor no matter what your financial circumstances.

We understand how worrying it will be to face a legal problem with the prospect of expensive legal work on top of the worry about your case.  We are able to offer fixed fees in a wide range of family matters to ease some of the fear of what it might cost to sort out your dispute.

If we can assist at all you can contact the Head of the family department Kerry Davis kd@clarksonhirst.com for further information.
