Fixed Fees

Clarkson Hirst can arrange fixed fees for our services (subject to agreement). If you are interested in this service to ensure that you have certainty of costs and are able to budget your finances accordingly then please discuss with your solicitor at the outset of your case.

We have published fixed fees for some of the legal work carried out at this office as below and our hourly rates are available here.

For some work we are prepared to undertake the work for a fixed fee the areas of work are:

  • Divorce £450.00 + VAT + £340 Court Fee & £45.00 Decree Absolute fee.

  • Lasting Power of Attorney (without registration) £250 + VAT

  • Lasting Power of Attorney (with registration) £350 + VAT and court fee of £150 per individual

  • a residential tenancy agreement for £150.00 + VAT,

  • we charge £75.00 + VAT for a single basic will

  • Inheritance Tax Planning Will £500.00 + VAT

  • Change of Name Deeds £75.00 + VAT

  • Deed of Trust £150.00 + VAT

  • Pre-Nuptial Agreement/Living Together Agreement/Co-habitation Agreement £250.00 + VAT

  • Agreed Deed of of Separation £300.00 + VAT

  • Mortgage Consent Forms for Occupiers £60.00 + VAT

  • Agreed Parental Responsibility Agreements £150.00 + VAT and court fees applicable.

  • Severance of Tenancy £75.00 + VAT

  • Shop lease £750.00 plus VAT and plus the cost of searches and Land Registry fees

  • Domestic Conveyancing sale £492.10 including VAT of £70.00

  • Domestic Conveyancing purchase £900.00 including VAT and plus stamp duty and an additional charge for Land Registry fees if your purchase is for an amount in excess of £200,000.00

  • Debt Collection Letters: £7.00 + VAT per item

Fixed fees for small claims Court litigation

If you are involved in litigation in the small claims Court then subject to prior agreement and knowledge of the case we will offer a fixed fee of £1,000.00 plus VAT and Court fees.

Business Lease

If you are a landlord and wish to grant a lease of a commercial property then our standard charge is £750.00 plus VAT of £131.25 plus Land Registry office copy entries charge of £8.00.

Business acquisition

If you are looking to acquire a business then our standard charge for the costs of acquiring a business is £2,000.00 plus VAT and plus £99.00 for a local search, £94.00 for an environmental search, Land Registry fee (various depending upon amount of purchase price), bankruptcy search £4.00, Land Registry search £4.00 plus stamp duty (amount dependent upon purchase price).

Property litigation and neighbour disputes

Our Senior Director Matthew Winder handles property litigation and neighbour disputes. He has a wide experience in the Court process involving litigation and property disputes before and after qualification in 1995.

Neighbour disputes

Neighbour disputes can be best resolved through alternative dispute resolution and please contact our Mr Winder for further details concerning this process. The types of case he has handled are as follows;

  • Litigation regarding the position of boundaries
  • Disputes regarding the right to prune trees
  • Disputes regarding rights of way
  • The enforceability of restrictive covenants
  • Trespass to land by neighbours and what action you can take to prevent it
  • Harassment from your neighbours and what steps you can take to prevent it

These fees are subject to prior agreement with you which agreement will be set out in our firm's terms of business letter.

We appreciate how concerned all clients are about meeting the costs of legal services. At Clarkson Hirst we discuss these issues with you frankly and openly and explain to you the various ways in which you can meet our charges.

We will always give to you full details of our Private charging rates, together with our best estimate of the likely costs of your case. To avoid you worrying about costs, we will let you have invoices on a regular basis which you can pay by cheque, cash or credit card if you prefer. We can also arrange for you to pay by monthly direct debit.
