Compromise Agreements

Compromise Agreements are a formal agreement whereby your employment is brought to an end of the basis that you received a pyament from your employer in return for which you agree not to bring any proceedings against your employer.

It is particularly important to establish whether you have any claims against your employer to make sure that any claim is paid before you agree to waive any right to pursue a claim.

For example, if you have been injured at work and are contemplating a personal injury claim, you need to make sure that the Agreement does not prevent you from pursuing that claim.

You should take independent legal advice from a qualified solicitor in relation to the agreement so that you understand its terms and effect.  Normally, an employer will pay for you have that advice.

Please contact our Matthew Winder if you would like to take advice on a Compromise Agreement or in relation to employment law generally.
